Drumroll please….
We are thrilled to announce that we are officially back at The Gingerbread House! While we truly enjoyed our team gatherings at what seemed to be almost every coffee shop in Charlotte while the restoration was happening, it feels wonderful to have a “home base” again for meetings. We have learned a lot in this process and are very grateful to everyone that checked on us during this time.
The symbol of the phoenix, the mythological bird that legend describes as growing old, burning in a fire, and then being reborn from the same ashes, has been a powerful analogy and reminder to us that strength often comes through change and adversity. The Gingerbread House itself was built in the early 1900’s and has stood strongly for over a century, witnessing an amazing amount of growth and change in our wonderful city of Charlotte. We were told its first residential use was a lake house which overlooked water across the street before the city filled it in and created Charlotte’s first public park in 1905. (Who knew?!?) Since then, The Gingerbread House has graciously evolved over the years. At one point, it was used as a medical office, then a variety of other professionals lovingly cared for it, including us being some of the latest stewards of this special place. Like a phoenix, The Gingerbread House was reduced by a fire to its bare bones and has since been lovingly restored to its glory.
This remarkable experience has made a lasting impression on all of us here at W Realty Group. This wonderful and unique building stands tall again and inspires us to remember that even when life presents challenges, and hope seems lost, we can work together to strengthen our resilience and grow through tough experiences. The phoenix has risen, and we’d love for you to come by and see us! Let’s grab a cup of coffee and catch up on this old house’s beautiful front porch this spring!
