Media Reports More Good News

This week our listings saw an average of 1.7 showings each.   That’s about the same amount of traffic as the same week last year.   To me, the difference is that last year we were heading into the storm and this year we are on our way out.

Recently both the National Assocation of Realtors and Case Schiller reported record home price gains nationally in June.    Case Schiller noted that in 20 selected cities, prices were up 0.5% in May, which was the first month over month gain in 34 months.   The National Association of Realtors report cited that the number of home sales was up nationally three months in a row as of June.   Most major news networks have been playing both these stories as a headline over an over this week.   Finally, the media is helping the recovery!

Charlotte has been slightly behind the curve through both boom times and bust times.   So I expect to see our numbers to continue to improveright behind the national numbers.   As a Realtor on the front lines, I am already seeing strong improvement in home sales.   But that activity won’t get translated to the media stories until the data is officially report and that can often take weeks to even months.
